Defender Fence Company started in Burleson, TX, just outside of Fort Worth. We have over 20+ years of experience and completed 100’s of beautiful fences across north Texas, from DFW homes to Hill Country ranches. Our team initiates every project with soil assessment, since Texas clay shifts and breaks fences built without accounting for it. I have spent more than 20 years installing fences in Fort Worth. During that time, I have seen fences fail for reasons that could have been addressed before installation. Posts move. Gates begin dragging. Water collects along the fence line. A new fence follows an old boundary that was never confirmed.
The material is not always the problem. The layout, ground conditions, post setting, gate support, drainage, and installation method all affect how the finished fence performs. I review those details before my crew begins work.

I install cedar fencing in side-by-side, board-on-board, shadowbox, horizontal, and cap and trim configurations. The style changes more than appearance. It affects privacy, airflow, material use, and how the fence looks from each side. Grade changes, bottom clearance, drainage, gate framing, and expected wood maintenance should also be discussed before installation. My crew builds around the property’s actual grade rather than assuming the entire yard is level.
Iron and metal fencing may suit front boundaries, pool areas, entrances, commercial properties, and yards where you want security without blocking the view. I review gate width, latch placement, post support, finish, nearby concrete, and ground changes. On a sloping property, the way the metal sections follow or step across the grade also affects the finished appearance.
Chain links can work well for pets, rental properties, commercial lots, equipment areas, side yards, rural boundaries, and temporary applications. It is not allowed everywhere. Fort Worth prohibits chain link in front and projected front yards, so I checked the proposed placement before recommending it for a residential project.
Vinyl is an option for property owners who want a private boundary without repainting or staining the surface. The system still needs proper planning. Long panel runs, gate openings, wind exposure, grade changes, and installation clearances can affect the finished fence. I compare those conditions before deciding whether vinyl fits the site.

The layout should account for employees, customers, delivery vehicles, contractors, emergency access, and daily operations.
